6 Reasons to be a Premier Research Clinical Lead

We spoke with some Clinical Leads to answer the question: “Why Premier Research?” Here’s what we heard.

  • A Focus on Career Growth

Premier Research often promotes from within. “Keep growing” is one of our Core Behaviors, so management proactively supports career ambitions, making sure people gain the breadth of experiences they need to move into the next role. One key indicator: Many clinical leads began as clinical research associates (CRAs) and are now working towards other career ambitions, like becoming project managers or clinical operations managers. Development plans are unique and customized based on skill and interest to support individual growth.

  • A Right-Sized Company

Often, people find that larger companies have too much bureaucracy—too strong a focus on hitting a specific number. At Premier, the focus is on doing work that has an impact for sponsors and the patient community; Premier also offers tremendous flexibility in how that work is accomplished. In fact, “think flexibly” is another one of the Core Behaviors rooted in Our Culture.

  • Stellar Management

Over and over, Premier team members commented on how terrific their managers are. That’s because Premier has a culture of support. As one Clinical Lead noted, “I have the support I need and the opportunity to meet with people when I need their help, but with the time to dive in and get plenty of work done throughout the day.”

  • A Strategic Role

Clinical Leads liaise with the senior-level project team and also manage and support the CRAs and Central Monitors on their team. We are trusted to work through escalations and help deal with site management issues as needed. There is a sense of trust and empowerment that allows clinical leads to be strategic and show their impact every day.

  • Minimal Travel, Maximum Work-Life Balance

While Clinical Leads have meetings most days, they are rarely on-site. This can be a pleasant change from the nomadic role of CRA—especially for people with school-aged children. Premier actively promotes a healthy work-life balance, trusting employees to use their time off responsibly.

  • People-Based, Not Volume-Based

Premier is tremendously supportive when employees have an unexpected issue arise. Yes, there are goals that need to be met, but there is also an understanding that employees have lives and things happen. As one Clinical Lead recounts, “Three years ago, I herniated three discs in my neck. I was having back spasms and was incapacitated for two weeks. The company was amazing. My manager said, ‘You take care of yourself, and we’ll take care of the work.’ Then, my mother passed away. I had to leave twice, first to say goodbye, then for the funeral. Once again, my manager was great, making sure I had all the bandwidth I needed to take care of myself and my family.”
