Premier Research Names Peter Larson to Lead Hematology/Oncology

DURHAM, N.C., December 1, 2016 — Premier Research announces the appointment of Peter Larson, M.D., as Senior Medical Director for Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Larson will support the drug development work of the company’s innovative biotech customers, bringing to the role more than 17 years of clinical and medical affairs experience.

With a background spanning the pharmaceutical, startup biotech, and contract research industries, Dr. Larson comes to Premier Research from pharmaceutical start-up Chimerix Inc., where he was Senior Director of Clinical Research. Prior to that, he was Senior Director of Oncology Global Medical Affairs at Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation.

Dr. Larson also held senior positions at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, where he was a medical lead and project director in the global virology franchise, and at Bayer Corporation, where he worked in global clinical strategy for biological products. His therapeutic expertise includes hematology, oncology, hemophilia, mastocytosis, AML, ALL, multiple myeloma, GIST, and virology.

Prior to joining industry, Dr. Larson was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania, conducted nine years of NIH-funded research in coagulation proteins and transfusion therapy at the University of North Carolina and the University of Pennsylvania, and oversaw blood bank and apheresis services at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

He holds a Doctor of Medicine and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina and trained in internal medicine, transfusion medicine, and hematology at University of North Carolina Hospitals.
